I think that Kermit the Frog said it best..."It ain't easy being green"

People in their everyday life are trying to be more green. We hear about being green all the time now, reduce water waste, recycle, buy local, the list is endless. For the bride that wants to be green it can be a little overwhelming.

From a very young age, most girls have planned out their dream wedding in great detail. Though today's brides weren't really thinking about the environment when they were coming up with the master plan at age 7 playing with Barbie and Ken. Luckily, there are many options to make your special day greener and still not loose the essence of your dream day.

This post could go on forever, so I will post green items by subject. This one cleverly called-drinks.

Most of your budget is spent on food and drinks, so most caterers/reception halls are willing to work with you to meet your needs. So what options do you have when it comes to food? BUY LOCAL (or nearby).

Let's start with wine (and not a bad place to start with I might add) Within a 2 hour drive east on autoroute 10, the Eastern Townships is home to many vineyards. Kill two birds with one stone. Take your bridal party out for the afternoon for a wine tour and tasting as a thank you present for being a part of your special day. Make a mixed CD of your favourite wedding songs, hop into one car and enjoy the scenic drive. Your besties can help you taste and pick out a nice combination of bottles for your reception. In most places and can purchase them and bring them home with you right away. You may have to pay an extra corkage fee on your big day, but at least you bought local and supported local businesses. (Talk to your vendor before going down this road, you may not be allowed to provide your own wine) If that's the case, talk with them to see if they can purchase wine from the region. If Quebec wines are not an option, Ontario also has a great selection of wines.

Every bride is unique, sometimes almost as unique as the shoes that she decides to wear on her wedding day. The traditional white shoe is a no brainer for most, though some modern brides want to show a bit of their personality on the big day. Depending on the length of the dress, some shoes are not even seen, but it's the pure pleasure of knowing what you're wearing on your feet.

The key to my heart

Tiffany created a new line this year of key pendants. I saw them when they first came out and was very excited about the line. Gorgeous pendants that you can wear everywhere with everything. They were smart and made silver (affordable) versions, for those who are not be able to afford the platinum diamond ones. My favourite of the collection comes in at just over $8,500 CAD. Unfortunately, the $50 that I won over the weekend at the casino won't even cover the taxes. It's always nice to dream though. Pendants can be purchased online on the Tiffany website. Looking for a romantic honeymoon spot? The islands of Hawaii offer a variety of places that offer just that. The Turtle Bay Resort on the island of Oahu has to be one of my favourite locations. Located approximately an hour from Honolulu (on the other side of the island).

If you want a sneak peek at the grounds, you have two wonderful options, by web cam or by movie. On the Turtle Bay Resort site http://www.turtlebayresort.com/ there's a web cam that you can actually control (for about 30 secs-real time) you can tour around the beach, the pools and the mountains off in the background. It's very popular, so you may have to wait a minute or two to gain access to the cam. The second is by renting the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall (A 2008 comedy filmed at the resort)
